Will Ferrell Movies

It seems like after Will Ferrell released the very funny and very popular movies "Old School" and "Anchorman", he was on top of the world. But since those two movies, he has, for whatever reason, and at least in my mind, not been able to hit that again. Movies like "Talladega Nights", "Step Brothers" and "Semi Pro" just to name a few, are prime examples of that type of movie. All of these movies, including the better ones, have Ferrell playing a similar character. A clumsy, less than intelligent, and quite pathetic is what we see from Ron Burgundy, Ricky Bobby, Jackie Moon, and all the other characters Ferrell takes on.
Despite all this though, it was nice to see him go outside his comfort zone a little when he played Harold Crick in the 2006 film "Stranger than Fiction". He plays a man whose life is being narrated by a big time author (Emma Thompson). It was refreshing to see him play a slightly different type of character, as we see his range of his acting ability. And he does have some range.

Here is a clip of Ferrell in my favorite film of his, "Anchorman"

Hi Tim,

I would like to start out by saying I have never actaully seen Anchormna. I tried to watch it twice. One time it was like 3 in the morning and I fell asleep, and the other time I was playing uno or some board game and wasn't paying attention. I agree with you in that Old School is an excellent movie, but it amazes me that you didn't like Talladega Nights, that movie was solid.

I have to say that i agree with you when ou say that the recent will ferral movies kindof blow, but why do you think that is the case?
Personally, i believe that it is because his jokes have benn killed. then beaten. then brought back to life and killed again.
and something you didnt bring up was how much of him is in a movie really does have an affect on the quality of the movie. For example, Wedding Crashers=awesome and low amount of Will Ferral. Talladaga Nights=too much stupidity and a lack of entertainment. ad too much will ferral.

Great post. Absolutely brilliant. Fantastic film, great literature. There is nothing about that post I would change except maybe I'd change the clip to the news station brawl.
